Woohoo! I finally made it to Friday. And, even though I work on Saturday, there’s still an air of anticipation and relief that comes at the end of every week. It also means the it’s almost the end of Week in the Life and I only have Saturday to go. It’s been a great week and I’m really looking forward to it printing my photos and putting my album together!
I’m good about washing and drying my clothes. What I’m not good at is putting them away as soon as they’re dry. Which means that 9 times out of 10, when I go to get dressed in the morning it’s likely that my pants are wrinkly. A quick tumble in the dryer while I’m doing my hair and make-up and they are good as new!
One of the last things I do before I leave for the day is check on the geckos. These little guys are only a month apart and are still friendly. Pretty soon I’ll probably have to separate them, but for now, I love these cuddly moments. And that spotted belly? I’m dying!
This is the mess that greeted me when I got to work on Friday morning. There are a couple of repair orders waiting for my approval, a list of op codes that need entered into the system, CTP files that need to be audited, and a stack of resumes for me to look through. Happy Friday!
Few things brighten my work day more than an old employee stopping by for a visit. I used to be responsible for hiring the people who parked cars and drove our shuttles. The majority of them are college kids who move on to bigger and better things. This guy is one of my favorites! I knew from the moment I met him he was destined for great things. He’s been accepted for an incredible internship at an engineering firm and, as much as I want to be selfish and keep him, I’m thrilled he has the opportunity. I’m convinced that someday I’ll be working for him.
After all these gray and rainy days, I was excited to see blue skies at lunch. I’ve been on a cloud kick lately and have been known to pull over on the side of the road to snap a picture of the sky. I love the rich green leaves against the bright blue background. Yay for sunshine!
Speaking of lunchtime- I had a couple of crunchy tacos from Taco Bell and this amazing Starburst Freeze.
Vacation is right around the corner and I. Can. Not. Wait. A couple of friends and I are renting a beach house in Cape San Blas and the planning has kicked into high gear. Lists of food are being compiled, restaurants are being researched, and supplies are being purchased. Looks like this one will be added to the menu 🙂
This collage is a representation of my career at the dealership. I started 19 years ago as the cashier looking out at the service drive. I’d been working for a department store for seven years and couldn’t bear the thought of going through another holiday season. I planned to stay for a few months until I figured out my next move. Now, all these years later, I’m the Service Manager and my office has a view into the shop. I’ve done everything from marketing, writing service, to dispatching. I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy so working here is a natural fit for me. There are so many more women working in the auto industry then there used to be, but we’re still way outnumbered. I can’t tell you how many times a customer wants to speak to a manager and is visibly surprised when I show up. I’m not a technical expert, but I do know my stuff and winning over doubters is one of the best feelings.
Yep. Still haven’t made that trip to the grocery store. But I did manage to stop by Target to pick up a few things. I used to work at Target and still love shopping there. Fortunately, there’s a store right down the street from work and I pop in there frequently.
After putting it off for weeks, I finally have propane for my grill. Summer and grilling go hand in hand and even though, it’s been unseasonably cool, barbecue sounded just right to me. Not only is cooking on the grill delicious, but there are less dishes and that makes me very happy indeed!
Who doesn’t love an ice cream sandwich? A few weeks ago, I made an ice cream sandwich cake for work. I can never remember how many boxes to buy and ended up with a whole box leftover. I know, you’re feeling really sorry for me, aren’t you? It’s tough, but I’ll do the best I can to get through. I don’t watch much TV, but one of the shows I make a point to record is Blacklist. I’m not sure how I feel about the turn it’s taken (Don’t worry. No spoilers here), but for now, I’m pretty addicted.
I guess technically, this is a Saturday picture, but since it’s right before I went to bed on Friday that’s where I’m putting it. During the week I don’t usually have to get up until 7:00, but on the Saturdays I work it’s 6:00. I know it’s just an hour, but it sees so much earlier. I rarely have a problem getting up though. I’m the one who has to open the store and I think the pressure makes me jump out of bed in the morning.
So, Saturday will be the last day of this Week in the Life. At the beginning of the week I wasn’t sure I would remember to stick with it, but now that it’s drawing to a close I’m so glad I did. As your week winds down, how do you feel about how it’s gone? Anything surprise you?
